On Monday, June 30, 2025, Press House – Palestine concluded a training course titled “Women Journalists and Media Leadership,” held as part of the “Journalists’ Training 2025” project funded by UNESCO.
The seven-day course was conducted in Gaza City, totaling 35 training hours, and targeted 22 female journalists. It was facilitated by Ms. Noura Zaqout, a specialist in diplomacy and international relations.
The course covered key topics including an introduction to media leadership, the role of women journalists in shaping the media landscape, the distinction between leadership and management in media institutions, and the essential skills of a successful media leader.
The trainer also presented analyses of successful women media leaders both locally and internationally, emphasizing the importance of self-confidence, effective communication, breaking stereotypes of women journalists in conflict zones, as well as strategies for negotiation and decision-making.
Additionally, the training addressed media leadership during wars and conflicts, working under risk, and managing newsrooms during emergencies.
Participants were also introduced to national and international legal frameworks protecting women journalists, advocacy skills for defending colleagues' rights, promoting gender issues in media, and the role of leadership in fostering safe and inclusive work environments in media organizations.
By the end of the course, the trainees successfully produced 20 publishable media pieces as a practical output of the “Women Journalists and Media Leadership” training.
