Gaza, 8/11/2016--- Sanad for construction industries held a press conference in Press House to explain the details of establishing the first company for cement in Palestine.
Loai Quwas, the executive head of Sanad, announced establishing the first company in Palestine, south of Bethlehem in the West Bank.
Quwas confirmed that the project will provide cement throughout the year without cutout and decrease importing from outside.
He said that establishing the factory is a dream of Sanad company and the Palestinian investment fund, adding that it has been started since 2013, which contributes to enhancing the economic sovereignty through providing the local market with cement in an international quality and creating job opportunities to the local market.
He added that Sanad has already got the primary confirmations on implementing the project( The first Stage) from the Palestinian official bodies.
He explained that the hard experience that Gaza went through in the cement crisis has given the company determination to establish the factory despite the challenges including Israel restrictions.
Quwas said, " we import an amount of 300 Million$ annually ach year, by which we can establish a cement factory, that produces 1 million tons of cement, adding that the market need in Gaza an West Bank amounted to 30 million ton annually. To fully quench their needs they need 3 factories.
He indicated that the factories will contribute to creating 500 job opportunities directly and more than 1000 one indirectly, saying that the amount of investment will be 310 million$ USAID
About the stages of project implementation, Quwas said that the factories will be established throughout two stages; Inauguration of the cement mill and going on the procedures of establishing the factory.
He considered that the factory will be near Gaza for facilitating the access to cement, and part of production will be provided to the South of west bank.
He said that he factory will be establish on a land of 3300 acres, including sockets that cover the needs for more than 50 years.
He said that the environment is appropriate to implement the project, as there are open& uncultivated areas 4 km far from houses.
