Gaza, 14/11/2016--- E-bug Project team in the medical science of the Islamic University has launched a campaign to raise the awareness about antibiotic, which starts from the period of 14-20 November.
During Press conference held in Press House on Monday, the team confirmed that the project aims at raising the awareness of antibiotic usage in the world within a series of medical awareness campaigns.
They showed that the activities of the campaign start this week in cooperation with academic, governmental and popular organizations through different activities including scientific lectures, voice messages via local broadcasts and TV interviews, posters and bulletins on Social media and internet.
The team added that the awareness campaign aims at encouraging people in general and workers of the medical field to follow the best practices in order avoid antibiotic resistance cases and find solutions to stop their appearances.
The team indicated that the antibiotic developed the medical field during the last decade, contributing to decreasing the percentage of infectious disease deaths from 50% to 30%.
They explained that the drugs which were considered as miracle have been misused and overused, leading to appearing bacterial strains resistant to antibiotic. They added that this issue has been alarmingly increasing, leading to complexity in treatment.
The team noted that the International Ministry Organization considers this problem as a medical challenge the world is facing in the 21 century, where there are expectations that this issue might lead to 10 million dead by 2050.
