Press House and RLS Opens Enhancing Objective Media Project

Gaza-17/4/2016 --- Press House- Palestine and Rosa Luxemburg Foundation opened the “objective media project” in the presence of a number of journalists, academics, and heads of media departments as well as media activists at Al-Salam Restaurant in Gaza.

Belal Jadallah, the chairman of Press House, said" the organization has been concerned about the fresh journalists and media graduates since its establishment." 

He added that welcoming the youth groups and media activists is not easy as anyone thinks, that's why Press House is now hosting 43 media youth groups, whom it helps to implement the activities and fund some of the initiatives as motivation.

Jadallah explained that Press House  contacted the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation which is a German Foundation, which is considered as the contributor of implementing the first project of its kind in the objective media, in order to promote the objective media for the coming generation, so that their professional capabilities could be developed in a way serving the topic and the Palestinian cause

Jadallah pointed out that there are many graduates need practical trainings besides their university studying. Therefore, this project is a golden chance for most of them to seize for their field.

In her turn, Bessan Shehada, representative of Rosa Luxemburg Foundation , said that her foundation supports the project of objective media as Gaza is in need for professional and neutral media, and the project targets a group of youth media activists, who were selected upon specific criteria.

Shehada indicated that the training program continues for 6 months, encouraging the Participants  to always give suggestions and notes that contribute to developing the project and making progress in the coming projects.

In her turn, Haya Abu Raya, the project coordinator, made a presentation about the project, which targets 30 media activists of both gender, and which will present various training programs, awareness workshops, exchange expertise meetings, in addition to educational sessions with experienced journalists, academics and trainers. 

Abu Raya noted that the general goal of the project is to promote the objective media in Gaza through developing the capabilities of graduates and media activists to advocate the Palestinian issue, beside other specific objectives such as develop the beneficiaries capabilities of the objective media techniques and enhancing their skills on how to harness media in advocacies.

At the end of her speech, Raya confirmed that the training will start by the next week.
