Gaza, 6/10/2015--- Press House- Palestine held a comic gallery for the artist," Shehda Dhorgham " whose portraits have been representing the Palestinians from the 1948 catastrophe till this moment and highlighting freedom of expression.
Press House welcomed the guests of the gallery which is titled "Waiting", and considered as the first one held in the organization. The gallery is opened for 2 days to all guests.
Belal Jadallah, the board of directors, said, " This gallery highlights the Palestinian and Arab issues ", asserting that Press House is supporting the Palestinian talents which represent Arabism issues especially the Palestinian.
In her return, VBassam Darweesh, the representative of Journalists Association, said, " Portraits are stronger to express than words, the gallery is to stress on freedoms where Israeli occupation do nothing but violations against the Palestinians.
Darweesh pointed out that the way the artist followed in preparing his comics portraits equals to the professional ways of the internal comics.
He concluded his speech, saying" We dont support the art which mimics the daily burdens of the Palestinian who has been resisting for his country, dreams and attitudes.
In his return, Shehda Dorgham (39 years old ), said " The gallery is a collection of visions, summarizing the daily issues people face.
Its worth mentioning that this gallery is considered to be the first one for the artist and the ninth one of his art experiences.
The artisit Dorgham concluded his speech saying, " We called it Waiting since the Palestinian story hasnt finished yet"
In Press House hallway, a dozen of portraits have been hanged, including a portrait talking about the Palestinian reality and other representing the freedom of expression violations as well as many others mimicking the touch reality of Palestine.
Worth mentioning that this gallery was implemented as a part of "Capacity Building of Journalists" Program activities under “Empowering Freedom of Expression, Democracy, & Independency of Palestinian Media” Project, funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments.
