On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Press House – Palestine organized a dialogue meeting between the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority, Mr. Yahya Shannar, and a group of male and female journalists in Gaza City, held via Zoom.
At the beginning of the meeting, Hikmat Yousef, Director of the Press House, welcomed the attendees, noting that this gathering is part of efforts to promote freedom of opinion and expression while providing a platform for constructive dialogue and debate regarding various financial issues in the Gaza Strip.
Yousef expressed his gratitude to the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), whose support for the "Rehabilitation of the Press House" project has enabled the organization to continue its vital work amidst difficult and complex circumstances.
Mr. Yahya Shannar spoke about the cash liquidity crisis in the Gaza Strip and the role of the Palestine Monetary Authority in developing solutions to address this challenge facing residents of the enclave.
He also highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Palestine Monetary Authority since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza to alleviate the burdens on its citizens.
The meeting included interventions and questions from journalists, which the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority addressed. Participants also presented a set of proposals and ideas that could be built upon to tackle the liquidity crisis and high commission fees in the Gaza Strip.
