On Monday, July 28, 2025, Press House – Palestine concluded a training course titled "Field Photojournalism", as part of the "Journalists Training 2025" project funded by UNESCO.
The training course was held in Gaza City and was led by photojournalist No’man Ishtaiwi. It lasted for seven consecutive days, totaling 35 training hours, and targeted 23 male and female journalists.
The course covered the concept and principles of photography, the importance of the press photo, and the differences between still photography and video journalism. It also introduced participants to different types of cameras and accessories, the fundamental elements and levels of the photography process.
The trainer discussed how cameras work, including their main buttons, and demonstrated the correct methods for assembling and disassembling lenses, batteries, and memory cards. The course also addressed lenses, how to select them, and how to interpret their symbols.
Participants studied the exposure triangle both theoretically and practically, as well as the ethics of photojournalism, standards of image composition, various shooting positions, and the differences between artistic photography and press photography, with a focus on indoor field photography.
The trainer explained the rule of thirds, the most important composition rules, common mistakes in photojournalism, and how to access information sources and event locations.
The course also included guidance on how to write captions for press photos, as well as the principles of visual storytelling and how to use images to convey ideas, opinions, and emotions.
Before the course concluded, participants produced 23 practical outputs, applying what they had learned throughout the training.
