On Monday, July 24, 2023, Press House – Palestine held a legal awareness session on the topic "Legal Protection of journalists in light of the Labor Law", as part of the Legal Protection Project for Palestinian Journalists activities in partnership with the European Fund for Democracy.
The session was presented by lawyer Fatima Ashour, in the presence of a number of journalists and students and graduates of media colleges in the Gaza Strip. Ashour reviewed the Palestinian Labor Law No. (7) of year 2000, and the principles of professional protection of journalists, ways to protect themselves from arbitrary dismissal, their rights to insurance and compensation for work injuries, and their professional obligations and duties.
The awareness session included a series of interventions that focused on the means of legal protection and duties of journalists in their workplaces, and how to rely on the provisions of the Palestinian labor law.
