Violations against Media Freedoms in Palestine

The Legal Protection Unit for Journalists at Press House - Palestine (BAS) published a factsheet on the violations against media freedoms in Palestine in January 2023.

The factsheet highlighted violations committed against Palestinian journalists whether by Israeli Occupation, or Internal Palestinian entities, in addition to digital rights violations. The number of committed violations in January against media freedoms in Palestine reached (118), the Legal Protection Unit at Press House has documented (72) violations committed by Israeli Occupation representing (41%) of total violations, (5) internal violations representing (4%) and (41) digital rights violations representing (35%).

The distribution of violations by geographical area indicates that the violations by the Israeli Occupation in the West Bank reached (72). Also, (5) internal violations were documented, including (1) violation in Gaza Strip, and (4) violations in the West Bank.

As for the digital rights violations, (41) were documented, most of which were caused by the "Meta" company, which includes the platforms Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
