Friday, May 21, 2021, within an initiative from Press House-Palestine (BAS) in cooperation with the Swiss and the Norwegian governments, “Voices from Gaza” meeting was held gathering representatives from different sections in the Gaza Strip with ambassadors of European Union countries and other countries.

The meeting was held in Press House via “zoom” and attended by Belal Jadallah, Head of Board, Dr. Medhat Abbas, Consultant of International Relations at the Ministry of Health, Eng. Osama Kuhail, Head of Palestinian Contractors Union, Ms. Amal Seyam, Head of Women’s Affairs Center, and Mr. Mohammed Aljaja, presenter of Humanitarian affairs, Mr. Abdullah Sharsharh, Coordinator of Legal protection unit for Journalists, and Dr. Mukhimar Abu Sa’adah, Political Writer and Analyst.

Mr. Belal Jadallah opened the meeting talking about the numbers of assaults committed by Israeli Occupation in the Gaza Strip over 11 days mentioning that the attack led to 243 martyrs, 66 of them are children, 39 are women, 17 are elderly people in addition to 1900 injuries.

Mr. Jadallah added the total number of displaced people during that period has reached 75,000. In addition, Israeli occupation forces committed 72 violations against media freedoms in the Gaza Strip.

He added, “we hope this attack will be the last one on the Gaza Strip, so Gazans can live safely. Gaza is in need of everything, but the most important one is hope and the right of life as all people in the world.

From his side, Dr. Midhat Abbas talked about the reality of health sector under the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, the challenges facing the health sector in providing health services for citizens especially during the attack in in synchronization with spreading of Covid 19.

Eng. Osama Kuhail, Head of Palestinian Contractors Union representing Construction sector, talked briefly about the preparations of contractors and construction companies to rebuild attacked houses, institutions, and infrastructure under the great damage caused by the Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip.

Mr. Abdullah Sharsharah representing the Human Rights Sector talked about the consequences of the attack on the reality of media freedoms. He confirmed that press offices is considered civilian in the light of international humanitarian law. Mr. Sharsharah also mentioned that Israeli forces are still imposing restrictions on entering protection equipment for journalists in the Gaza Strip.

Mr. Mohammed Aljaja representing Humanitarian Affairs’ sector talked about the consequences of the attack on displaced people internally, supplies of water, health, and food aid asking for neutralizing humanitarian aid from any political and field pressures and allowing them to enter through borders permanently.

Ms. Amal Seyam representing woman sector talked about the reality of women and violations committed against them during the attack mentioning that women and children have formed high percentage of the victims of the attack on Gaza. She also expressed her concern over rising of the average of the attack against women in the light of the attack and its consequences.

Mr. Mukhaimar Abu Sadah, Political Writer and Analyst, talked about the necessity of ending the roots of conflict representing in the continuation of Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. He also mentioned that solving the difficulties the Gaza Strip is suffering from cannot be imagined as a result of not reaching final solutions of the occupation.
