Gaza - Press House
On Thursday, September 3, 2020, Press House – Palestine (BAS) organized a workshop on the topic of "Applications on the Freelancing Concepts in Media", via ZOOM application, as part of Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine Project activities.
The facilitator of the workshop was Eng. Mohamed Al-Afifi, lecturer and expert in the field of e-marketing and self-employment, in the presence of more than 50 participants of a group of students and graduates of the faculties of journalism and media in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Mohammed Al –Jaja, MEAL officer at Press House, explained the mechanisms of using ZOOM application, and also talked about the importance of the workshop, which seeks to give participants a comprehensive knowledge about the free work in the field of media and its applications and platforms, to gain a qualitative shift in the field of free work for graduates and media students.
Mr. Al -Jaja confirmed that a series of different meetings will be organized by Press House through ZOOM application in the coming period, due to the curfew in the Gaza Strip as a result of outbreak of the coronavirus (Coved 19).
Eng. Al-Afifi reviewed the various basics of the workshop, which included (introducing self-employment, how to deal with and explaining self-employed platforms), and areas that might suit media students.
Eng. Al-Afifi pointed to some self-employment platforms such as (Mustakel - upwork - Kamsat- fiverr) and photo-selling platforms, which help beginners to work freely and break the barrier of fear with self-employment.
From his part, Eng. Al-Afifi pointed to the differences in some concepts in the field of online work (self-employment, e-commerce, e-marketing).
Eng. Al-Afifi concluded the workshop by answering the questions asked by participants about self-employment, how to obtain funds in a way that is far from exploitative, and investing the media in self-employment in the right way.
The workshop is the second workshop, as part of the Dialogue Club Sessions, in collaboration with MA'AN Development Center and the Society of Women Graduates in the Gaza Strip, as part of the activities of the Youth Partnership Forum project.
