Its worth noting that the media frameworks and institutions held their regular meeting last Thursday (31/10/2019) in Gaza City, to discuss the files of media freedoms, and the upcoming elections of the Journalist's Syndicate.
The participants stressed the need to respect media freedoms, including the freedom of opinion, expression and publication, and to create an environment and constructive incubator in light of the atmosphere resulting from the consensus on the organization of a general elections in the near future.
The participants stressed the need to stop the policy of silence, calling on the security services not to arrest journalists and respect the freedom of press work without restrictions, in accordance with the Constitution, the Palestinian laws and the international conventions and treaties, which the State of Palestine signed.
The meeting also stressed the need for the Journalist's Syndicate to be the home of all journalists and media professionals, whose duty is to embrace and defend them in all forums.
During the meeting, representatives of media bodies and institutions agreed to form a five-member committee to hold dialogues with the Journalist's Syndicate and all concerned parties, to come up with a national consensus on organizing free, fair and transparent elections at the Journalist's Syndicate on the basis of consensus and partnership without any prejudice or discrimination.
