On Tuesday, in the participation of Press House - Palestine, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the press frameworks and institutions held an emergency meeting to discuss the latest developments related to press freedom in the Gaza Strip, which marked by serious violations against journalists and freedom of press work.
The participants condemned in the strongest terms the grave and unprecedented violations confronting fellow journalists over the past few days. They also denounced the vicious attack on the writer Dr. Atef Abu Saif, and called on the concerned parties to seriously investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The gathered participants called for the immediate release of the arrested journalists, and to cease the attacks on them and to hold the aggressors accountability.
During the meeting, which included representatives of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the Democratic Press Gathering, the Democratic Media Gathering, the Central office of journalists, “Filastiniyat” Foundation, the Press House and the Palestinian Institute for Communication and Development, stressed the need to respect the freedom of press and not to obstruct the work of journalists in the field, in accordance with domestic and international law which stressed on the Freedom of press that should not be subjected to any restrictions.
