10/05/2017---- Sponsored by the Press House-Palestine, Deerna Team concluded " Green" Initiative with a photo exhibition, that aims at directing journalism attention towards the environmental future of the Gaza Strip.
Sahar Sarsour, Project Coordinator for Press House, expressed her happiness for accepting the initiative that sheds the light on the environmental future of the Gaza Strip, noting that the Press House always seeks to create a Palestinian media that serves the issues of the Palestinian community.
She added; " the initiative started with holding a trip to a plenty of marginalized environmental areas in participation with a number of journalists and environment experts from Jaica Japanese association, and finished with this exhibition that sheds the light on the reality of these areas and the importance of keeping the environment safe."
In his turn, the engineer Khaleel Hassanein, Head of Jaica Japanese Association, stressed on the role of media to highlight the marginalized places and to launch a call message to the international organizations for considering the environmental issues of the Gaza Strip.
" Inhabitants must be aware of the importance of keeping Gaza beautiful away from pollution that leads to diseases spread." He followed
He also noted that his organization extends its gratitude to those who fund the Gaza Strip municipalities for B.T material that's used to combat mosquitos without damaging the environment, and who organize cleaning campaigns for seashores as well as plant trees.
In his turn, Hassan Abu Safar, the initiative coordinator, confirmed that the initiative originally aims at raising the awareness of people to kept the Palestinian environment safe through the participation of 30 journalists and activists to get to know the history of such areas.
Abu Safar said that the initiative aims at enhancing the role of journalists in reporting the environmental situation of these places and taking photos, where 20 photos have been selected to be displayed in the closing ceremony for shedding the light on the issue.
At the end of his speech, he thanked the Press House for supporting the initiative, which contribute to developing media work and getting the attention of journalism to these places. He also praised the efforts of Jaica Association for their cooperation.
