Gaza, 12/04/2017---- The Palestinian Federation of Industries confirmed that the industrial sector in Gaza is passing through miserable situations due to borders’ closure and the prevention of allowing raw materials to be entered, as well as the siege and division.
During a press conference held at the Press House, the Federation stated:” As a result of this, 70% out of the Gaza Strip workers have been demobilized.”; adding that preventing the raw materials to be entered and closing the borders led to losing the living jobs of many.
They noted that more than 1000 company were demolished during the last aggression against the Gaza Strip, leading to massive losses.
The Federation appealed to accelerate the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation for the destroyed industrial companies and granting them some money to mix up the losses.
They stressed on the importance of lifting the prevention of main raw materials required for the industry and ensuring its entry, as well as facilitating the movement of industry holders and staff.
The industrial sector needs an investment and employability environment that provides stability, encourages investment, provides better living conditions as this sector is considered as the most important economic sectors and a basic pillar that supports the national economy. The Federation added.
The Federation noted that they are working with the National Economic Ministry within the current period in order to protect the national product, explaining that the ministry stepped forward attaining this goal.
The Federation asked to support the national product and promote it to a competitor in the national and international markets, enhance the national economic integration as well as provide it with the possibilities, calling to providing the electric power and alternative power for fair running
They also stressed on encouraging the industrial investment, supporting industrial development, exempting workers from taxes and customs, where they also called to rehabilitate the infrastructure, establish industrial spots and provide awards with logic rent fees.
The Federation asked to move from the urgent habilitation stage to development project grants that provide stable job opportunities and guarantee investment protection under agreements, policies and national strategic plan.
