In the context, Mladenov stressed on the importance of ending the fight between the Palestinians and Israelis, saying that the only solution left is to forming two states, living in peace.
He said that the United State is seeking to achieve the conditions of the two sides to implement the principle of the two-state solution.
He clarified that the United State is a partner with the legitimate Palestinian government, and it supports the efforts of the President Mahmoud Abbas to access a deal eliminating the division between the West bank and Gaza.
He also considered digging tunnels and launching rockets will never help to access peace in the Gaza Strip, where all have to work on completing the reconciliation.
Regarding the issue of the prisoner Mohammed Al-Qeeq, who is going on hunger strike, he added that the United State has clear attitudes about the administrative detention, expressing his opposition to this law and asking to release the administrative detainees.
Mladenov called those it may concern and everyone who can make something for the release of Mohammed Al-Qeeq to do something to save his life and end his suffering.
He noted that the United State and the international community reject such situations like these, indicating that the ongoing shooting and stabbing do not contribute in pushing the peace process forward, while Israeli settlements and houses demolition are nothing but obstacles to the two-state solution.
