Gaza, 7/5/2015 --- Press House – Palestine concluded a training course titled “Media Law: Causes of Acquittal from Publication Crimes” which continued for three consecutive days for a total of 15 hours, with the participation of (30) journalists from media and law departments.
The course delivered by Dr. Khalid Gig, lecturer of law at Palestine University in Gaza, and focused on the causes of acquittal from publication crimes committed by journalists and stated by the Palestinian law.
The lecturer provided detailed explanation on publication and criticism rights, including that the journalist must target the public interest, goodwill, report truth, and use suitable phrases.
For his turn, the trainee Mohammed Abd Rabo praised the training course and called for organizing further trainings in this subject.
For her part, the trainee Falestine Erheem said: “the course is very beneficial and introduced a brief about the laws governing media work, especially in the light of unavailability of similar courses in media and law colleges.
At the end of the course, certificates were distributed among participants. Worth mentioning that this course came as a part of “Enhancing freedom of expression, democracy, and independency of Palestinian media” project, funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments, and one of “capacity building of journalists’” activities.
