Gaza, 27/4/2015 --- Lawyers’ Syndicate launched in cooperation with Press House launched a campaign titled “My Trust in Judiciary is My Way to Justice” at Press House’ main office in Gaza.
Ibraheem Abu Shamala, the deputy director of supporting the rule of law and access to justice program at UNDP, during a press conference, ensured the importance of community participation in supporting Palestinian judiciary; to put an end to the law system and Palestinian judiciary crisis in the Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza.
For his turn, Ali Aldon, member of Palestinian Lawyers’ Syndicate, stressed on the need to restore trust between the Palestinian citizen and the various judicial organs, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions people of Gaza are suffering from after the last Israeli aggression.
He also called for launching awareness campaigns among citizens to strengthen the role of the rule of law and justice in the strip and enhance the importance the role the law plays in protecting citizens’ rights and referring to it in solving many legal cases.
For his part, the member of Press House board of directors –Hekmat Youssef- ensured that this campaign comes in a time when the Palestinian territories and Gaza Strip in particular is witnessing lack of trust between the citizen and judicial organs.
Youssef also ensured that Press House – Palestine will work on acheiving success of the campaign to create a strong legal environment based on respecting law; ensuring that media outlets have a great effect and role on people’s opinions and awareness.
