Gaza, Wednesday, 17th of September ---- Press House – Palestine concluded a training course in occupational safety, with the participation of twenty journalists working in different media outlets.
This course comes as a part of “Capacity Building of Journalists Program” funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments. The three-day course covered the subjects of media coverage during wars and military operations.
The trainees received practical training in safety procedures and first aid through the international trainer “Samy Abu Salem”.
The participants expressed their satisfaction of the training level, the theoretical and practical sides of the training material, emphasizing the continuous need of Gaza’s journalists for similar training courses; especially, in the light of the aggressions the Gaza Strip goes through.
Tareq Hamdia, one of the participants, said:”The timing of the training course is very critical; as it came directly after the Israeli offensive, where journalists were prone to many hazards during media coverage,” while Nasser Rahmy, another trainee, asked Press House to organize further courses to protect journalists from future dangers.
Belal Jadallah, the head of Press House, said that the organization decided to organize further training courses in occupational safety after many journalists were killed and injured during the Israeli offensive.
Jadallah also ensured the importance of training and rehabilitating the journalists to enable them from working under conditions of wars and aggressions.
