Gaza City – On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Press House – Palestine concluded a professional training course entitled "Occupational Safety", aimed at enhancing the safety and resilience of journalists working in the Gaza Strip. The program, which was funded by UNESCO, brought together 17 male and female journalists for a comprehensive 7-day course totaling 35 training hours.
Held in Gaza City, the sessions were led by trainer Hamza Zaqout and focused on raising awareness about occupational hazards and safety protocols, as well as risk management strategies and personal protection techniques. The training also included practical modules on emergency response and first aid during crisis situations.
Zaqout guided participants through various scenarios involving environmental threats, psychological resilience under pressure, and effective responses to potential danger. The course featured simulated evacuation drills, during which trainees were divided into teams to practice real-world applications of the skills they had acquired.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support the safety and preparedness of journalists operating under challenging conditions in the Gaza Strip.
