The Legal Protection Unit for Journalists at Press House - Palestine (BAS) issued a newsletter on violations of media freedoms during the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip between August 5-7, 2022.

The newsletter explained the violations that journalist are subjected to by the Israeli occupation, where the occupation forces committed (21) violations of media freedoms in the Gaza Strip, and these violations affected (10) journalists in addition to (10) media institutions.

According to the newsletter, the violations were distributed as follows: (1) a journalist was injured by shrapnel, (10) partial damage to Press institutions as a result of the bombing of "Burj Felesteen" Palestine Building, which includes a number of media offices, as for the radio broadcasting, (1) local radio was stopped, while (9) journalists were subjected to violations of their digital rights by blocking content, restricting access or disabling their accounts on social media platforms as a result of publishing media materials related to the aggression on Gaza.

As for the relative distribution of violations only, the largest percentage of violations amounted to partial damage to media institutions as a result of the bombing on "Burj Felesteen" Palestine Building, which amounted to (47.62%) of the total violations, while the percentage of violations of digital rights in the period covered by the newsletter amounted to (42.86%) of the total violations, while physical injuries amounted to (4.76%) and the destruction of media equipment amounted to (4.76%), which was summarized in the suspension of the equipment of the radio channel as a result of the destruction of its infrastructure.

Press House is working to stop the violations of media freedoms committed by the Israeli occupation, protect Palestinian journalists, and work on the procedures to hold the Israeli Occupation accountable for violating the rules of international humanitarian law.
