Press House Holds a Legal Awareness Session on "Procedures of Calculating Work Injuries Compensation in Journalistic Field According to the Law"

On Sunday, November 11, 2021, Press House - Palestine (BAS) held a legal awareness session on the topic of “Procedures of Calculating Work Injuries Compensation in Journalistic Field according to the Law”, as part of "Legal Protection for Palestinian Journalists" project activities, in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy..

The awareness session was held in Gaza City, with consideration of high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, with participation of a number of journalists (women and men), students and graduates of media colleges.

The session was opened by Mr. Mohammed Al Jaesh (Lawyer at the Legal Protection Unit for Journalists), as he welcomed the attendees, stressing that Press House strengthening and building journalists’ capacity in many legal fields related to their profession.

Mr. Mahmoud Al Talouli, Facilitator of the Session, talked about journalism work as one of the high risk professions because of Occupation and the security situations in the Gaza Strip, in addition to concept of risk and types of damages that can be materialism or psychological.

This session included practical side that showed how to count Compensation of damages according to Labor Law No. 7, 2000 and the Palestinian Insurance Law.

The awareness session included a number of participations from journalists (women and men), which focused on problems they face during their media work.
