Gaza - Press House
On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, Press House - Palestine (BAS) holds a media initiative on the topic of "Using Digital Media in Serving Investigative Journalism", as part of “Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine” project activities, funded by the Norwegian and the Swiss Governments.
The initiative was held in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, with high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19, with the participation of investigative journalist Mr. Mohammed Abu Shahma and in presence of a number of journalists (women and men).
The initiative was opened by the Project Coordinator, stressing that Press House take care of building the capacities of journalists (women and men) and enhancing their awareness level in order to use best methods and tools for preparing investigative reports s through the right and legal ways.
From his part, Mr. Mohammed Abu Shahma stressed that the initiative aims to enable journalists (women and men) to access tools which provided by media websites interested in investigative journalism and ways of using them during producing investigative reports.
Also, he explained applications for using digital media in investigative journalism, ways of verifying the validity of documents, sources, documenting information, digital protection for an investigative journalist during surfing the Internet and data encryption and files.
The initiative included a number of participations from participants and recommendations which focused on ways to encrypt data and document it securely via internet and during preparation of investigative reports.
