On Monday, July 05, 2021, the Media Center at An-Najah National University, in collaboration with Press House – Palestine (BAS), held a workshop on the topic of "Occupational Safety Procedures for Journalists", as part of “Strengthening Free & Independent Media in Palestine” project activities in partnership with the Norwegian and the Swiss Governments.

The workshop held in Nablus, with consideration of high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, in presence of journalist Mr. Baker Abd El Haq and participation of a number of Journalists (women and men), students and graduates of media colleges in the West Bank.

Mr. Abd El Haq presented occupational safety for journalists concept and the most risks which facing the Palestinian journalist, especially that Palestine is considered a “Hot conflict spot” and the importance of lifesaving and not to risk by soul.

Mr. Abd El Haq presented videos for live injuries that some journalists (women and men) exposed to, during their media coverage, to know the mistakes they may fall with it and doubled the possibility of being injured.

Also, he addresses out the most injuries which journalists (women and men) may exposed to, how they can protect themselves and how to provide the assistance and the first aid for their colleagues in the field in case of exposure to any injury in addition to clarifying angles of correct standing in confrontations field and procedures details which followed to reduce the severity of any injury, as wearing protective shield and helmet.

The workshop included a number of participations from journalists (women and men), which focused on methods and techniques of personal and occupational protection during journalistic tasks and how to deal with different risks that may face the work of journalists (women and men).
