The Legal Protection Unit for Journalists at Press House - Palestine (BAS) has published a factsheet on the violations against media freedoms in Palestine in the First Quarter of 2021.

The factsheet explained violations committed against Palestinian journalists (women and men) by Israeli Occupation and internal entities in addition to the violations against digital rights.

In the first quarter of 2021, the number of violations against media freedoms in Palestine has reached (179); the Legal Protection Unit at Press House has documented (135) violations by Israeli Occupation, (18) violations internally, and (26) digital rights violations.

The factsheet showed that proportional distribution of violations by geographical region indicates that (150) violations were committed in the West Bank representing (83%) out of total number of violations and (29) violations in the Gaza Strip representing (17%).

Internally, The factsheet showed that proportional distribution of internal entities violations by geographical region indicates that (55%) in the West Bank and (45%) in the Gaza Strip.

According to proportional distribution of Israeli Occupation violations by geographical region, the violations reached (93%) in the West Bank and (7%) in the Gaza Strip.

The most prominent forms of violations documented by the Legal Protection Unit for Journalists during the first quarter of 2021have been as following: temporary detention, preventing from media coverage, physical attacks, inspecting journalists and their equipment, digital rights violations, threat and intimidation.
