Press House held a workshop on the topic of (Guidance on how to deal with people with disabilities issues in Media and journalism from legal perspective)

On Monday and Tuesday, June 29/30, 2020, Press House held a workshop on the topic of (Guidance on how to deal with people with disabilities issues in Media and journalism from legal perspective) in collaboration with Al- Nusuirat Rehabilitation and Social Training Association.‎

Ms. Aya Al -Tarifi, the coordinator of media youth groups at Press House, opened the workshop and welcomed the participant, and she confirmed that these meetings and workshops aim to raise awareness of the media professionals in how to deal with the issues of people with disabilities e in media from human rights perspective.

On the first day, Mr. Badr Musleh facilitator at Al- Nusuirat Rehabilitation and Social Training Association talked about the concept of human rights and disability and the development of the concepts of disability in order have a common beliefs on the importance of people with disabilities  as real partners in society and the terminology being used in the field of disability according to international laws and agreements.

On the second day, Ms. Magda Farajallah “facilitator at Al- Nusuirat Rehabilitation and Social Training Association” ‎ talked about the right language and the tools of communication with people with disabilities and how to deal with them.

 Ms. Farajallah also talked about disability and law and the etiquette of communicating with people with disabilities and explained the concept of the rehabilitation matrix.

The meeting included many events, activities, and participants promoted the correct terminology in the writing of the journalistic news and enable them as Journalists to understand the reality and issues of disabled people within the society in accordance with the approach based on human rights and motivate them to be supporting soldiers for people with disabilities.

 In conclusion, the Journalists suggested that they will form a team to launch a campaign about people with disabilities issues, where the association welcomed the Journalists to have a written column in the media magazine - Ana zee zik - (I am like you), which launches monthly from the association.
