The Media Center at Al-Najah National University, in cooperation with the Press House- Palestine, held a workshop entitled” Strengthen the concepts of independent media discourse”.
The workshop targeted students from both gender from Media and Journalism Faculty at Al-Najah University, where Ghayyath Jazi spoke about the concepts of media discourse and its importance as a key tool in building the community's awareness of specific issue.
The workshop dealt with many issues of interest to the journalist and the professional ethics and the basis of self-development for a purposeful media with a clear and independent message which does not fall under the influence of any partisan or intellectual serving certain parties.
Jazi explained that the press as a fourth authority needs an experienced journalist with impartial and comprehensive perceptions. He pointed out that media students have a responsibility to develop themselves and create a place within the virtual world to be influential.
The workshop included discussions and questions from the participation, who influenced the debate about the role of youth specifically to influence the social media platforms in our reality that became digital amid the technology that imposed itself forcibly.
The participation asked many questions about the reality of the Palestinian media and their role in it as journalists make their way and look for a compass that sets their goals.
This workshop is part of “Towards an Independent Media Platform for Capacity building, Awareness, and Involvement of Journalists” Project, funded by the Norwegian and Swiss governments, which is implemented by the Press House Foundation.
