General Union of Palestinian Women in cooperation with Press House opens "Painting and Story" exhibition

The General Union of Palestinian Women organized, in cooperation with Press House - Palestine on Thursday, an art exhibition titled "Painting and Story" in a 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women.

Samar Al-Malfouh, the representative of Press House, welcomed the audience and the guests, stressing the support that press house provide for women's issues and their important role in eliminating violence against women.

Al-Malfouh thanked the General Union of Palestinian Women for cooperating with the Press House to organize this exhibition, which highlights women's issues.

Amal Hamad, Director of the General Union of Palestinian Women, said that art is one of the most important forms of women's support. The artist expresses the human rights, including the rights and the issues of women, considering that the artist's brush is a passport to enter human minds and conscience without permission.

"We are sending a message to all the peoples of the earth that we are free people and we seek to live in safety and stability in a liberal country far from occupation and siege", she added.

She confirmed that we want to live in a society free from violence and those who deny the values of justice, equality and respect for women.

She also demanded to match all the laws in Palestine, especially penalties and personal status laws, with the contents of the CEDAW agreement and the adoption of family protection from violence law. She stressed spreading CEDAW agreement in the official newspaper until it gets approval as it is considered the highest international document after the signing of President Mahmoud Abbas and where it has become a constitutional and legal reference.

"Painting and Story " exhibition was well received by the audience who expressed their happiness with these paintings, which reflect and portray the reality of Palestinian women.
