Press House to Support People with Disabilities

On December 3, 2018, Disabilities Representative Persons Network in Gaza Strip held a press conference at Press House-Palestine on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, under the theme of empowering and integrating people with disabilities to ensure their equality.

The head of Disabilities Representative Persons Network, Zareef Al-Ghorra, commended all people with disabilities in Palestine, asserting the continuation of the network in advocating their rights, supporting them and removing all barriers which prevent them from performing their political, social, cultural, economic rights and their right in doing exercise.

He called upon the national and local policymakers, international community organizations and academic universities to create a comprehensive, fair and sustainable development that guarantees a comprehensive and accessible society for all.

He called upon the official and non-official institutions to bring a legal claim against the leaders of the Israeli occupation because of their increasing crimes against the Palestinian people.

He issued an urgent appeal to all concerned parties to lift the siege on Gaza Strip and to facilitate the movement of people and goods to enable people with disabilities to travel, seek treatment and find suitable jobs.

He sent a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Rami Al-Hamdallah to work on empowering people with disabilities in Gaza Strip, by providing financial funding to all the wounded people with disabilities.

He called on local and international financial institutions to pay attention to development programs for people with disabilities, including vocational training, university scholarships and small-scale projects.

He sent a message to the media to highlight the issue of people with disabilities in order to make it a central issue in their programs, follow up their activities and spread sign language in satellite channels.
