Under the patronage of the Press House - Palestine, a cultural “Shaghaf” team organized a poetry evening entitled "It was not our light" which took place Wednesday 25th April, 2018 at Said Al-Mashal Hall in Gaza City.
The evening was attended by a number of poets, famous writers, and some rising young cultural, where the evening interspersed cultural paragraphs as well as a shedding of poetry and music tracks.
The chief of “Shaghaf” team said” This poetry evening comes up coinciding with the international day of writers and copyrights, and today will be an international day for intellectual property rights. Where we wanted to send a message that “Palestinian human being has rights and this generation will never tolerate or fall, and by poem and music we can achieve something for Palestine.
He added: "Palestinian people through successive generations, including the youth generation and children are going on to write creatively, shedding poetry and music, because these parts and forms are considered as resistance means against the occupier”.
He continued: "Through this team, we sought to establish an incubator for creative youth away from any party or ideology in light of the prevailed framing which unfortunately exists in the Palestinian territories”.
The representative of the Press House Sahar Sarsour, said that this event comes up as a part of the project “Enhancing freedom of opinion and expression, the quality and independency of the Palestinian media”.
Moreover, she confirmed the ongoing support of the press house and its stand with journalists, initiators, intellectuals, writers, authors and readers, pointing out that the press House has a long history of preparing and supervising the special activities of this educated and outstanding class.
She also clarified that the press house continues to support all community activities that enhance the right to speak and enable young people to raise their voices in addition, express their opinion and active community participation.
It is worth mentioning that this activity of “Shaghaf” team comes up within the media initiatives that being carried out by the Press House during the “advocacy and networking program” of the project “Enhancing freedom of expression, the quality and independency of the Palestinian media”.
