Press House- Palestine concluded six meetings at the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip within Promoting Objective Media 2 project, which is funded by Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Foundation.
The meetings, which targeted more than 300 young men and women media students at the Palestinian universities in Gaza, covered many subjects as the following:
"Professional Safety for Journalists" which was conducted in Al Aqsa university and led by the trainee/ Hatem Al Rawagh. He talked about the medical and security safety for journalists, the security plan in the conflict areas, secure travelling and movement, risks of using weapons and protection procedures.
"Gender Sensitivity" which was conducted in Al Al Quds Open university and led by the trainees/ Basma Al Samak and Malik Shahin. The meeting included many topics; Gender definition and concepts related to it, gender roles, the wrong beliefs which create differences between men and women and how to consider gender while writing and editing news.
"Journalists' Charisma and Reciting Skills" which was held in Palestine university and led by the trainee/ Mohammed Bakroun. The meeting covered many topics, the charisma and its journalistic characteristics, the journalists features, how to be a good speaker, how to break the camera and microphone barrier and how to be a successful journalists.
"The Role of New Media in Promoting Objective Media" which was conducted in the Islamic University and led by the trainee/ Abdlraheem Al Dahdouh. Abdelraheem discussed the concept of new media in compare with the traditional media regarding the publishing, ethics and standards of new media, monitoring and evaluation mechanism and how to use new media in promoting the objective media.
"The Various Factionalized Media Outlets and its impact on the Objective Media" which was held in Al Azhar university and led by the trainees/ Mai Eid and Moeen Mohsin. The meeting covered many topics; media concept, outlets and importance, objectivity and objective media concepts, the objective media exposed to criticism and the factionalized media outlets and its impact on media objectivity.
"Citizen Journalism and Objective Media" which was conducted in Gaza university and led by the trainees/ Samah Abu Dayya and Jamil Qasem. The meeting focused on; citizen journalism concept, its origins and theory, Citizen's journalism concept, its origin and theory, forms of citizen journalism and practical examples of using it, citizen journalism exposed to criticism and how to promote the objectivity of the media by using citizen journalism.
This type of activities aim at promoting media objectivity among men and women media students in the Palestinian universities. In addition to activating the trainees participation in transferring the media issues and cases to the coming generations.
