Gaza, 15/07/2017--- Establishment of a hospital named " Hand in Hand for Cancer" ; the first hospital for cancer in the Gaza Strip has been announced during a Press conference held at the Press House.
Ibrahim Al-Ayoubi, Hospital's Head of Board, confirmed that Al-Shawaa hospital in Beit Hanouon presented services for cancer patients as a prior step for building a special hospital for cancer.
Al-Ayoubi added; " it's been one year and half of hard working and devoting efforts, till we stepped forward achieving our dream of establishing a hospital for cancer."
He followed;" people of the Gaza Strip have been imposed to 10-year-seige, where their health conditions have been deteriorated especially the cancer patients."
He noted that 40% of the cancer patients in Gaza couldn't get permits to travel, subjected to extortion. He added that 1500 cases can't travel to get cure.
Al-Ayoubi explained that the increase of cancer patients is clear, with at least 1500 cases per year being infected. He noted that the survival rate doesn't exceed a percentage of 5% within the miserable therapeutic conditions.
Al-Ayoubi called all loyal and benevolent individuals, institutions, health committees, NGO organizations to work on making this human experience successful through supporting them with all possibilities.
He concluded the conference that this project is a national health necessity, where it presents services to patients and marginalized cancer patients. It also counts on a well-built plan to face cancer and its causes.
At the end of his speech, he praised the efforts of Beit hanoun Municipalities for supporting the hospital project.
