Press House and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Open Promoting Objective(2) Project

Gaza, 17/01/2017--- Press House-Palestine and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Foundation opened on Tuesday Promoting Objective Media (2) Project in the presence of a number of journalists, academics, writers, project’s participants and media graduates of Palestinian universities.

Hekmat Yousef, Member of Board of Director, said that Press House targets the fresh media graduates of the various Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip.

Yousef added that the huge number of media graduates need to get practical training along with their university study, explaining that this project is considered a journalistic opportunity to its participants who must seize it.

He confirmed that the general goal of the project is to contribute to promoting objective media in Gaza through building the capacities of the graduates and media people to advocate for the Palestinian Cause, in addition to specific objectives including developing the capacities of the beneficiaries on objective media techniques and boosting their skills to further utilize the objective media in advocacy.

Yousef also added the Press House implemented the same project last year, which targeted 30 media activists of both genders , during which they received various activities including training programs, awareness sessions, experience exchange meetings, and educational meetings, as well as training 15 out of them in SAWA Agency for NEWS  on the techniques of writing news and journalistic reports.

At the end of his speech, Yousef thanked RLS for the ongoing support for Press House to implement Promoting Objective Media(2) for the second year in row, which left a great impact their professional lives.

In her turn, Bessan Shehada, RLS representative, Rosa Luxemburg goes on its partnership with Press House for the second year in law for the success achieved in the last project , confirming that 30 journalists of both genders have become more skilled and qualified especially in the objective media and its tools.

Shehada also said that she is too proud of the last project’s graduates, as the project has given them golden opportunities for a bright future.

In her turn, Sameera Inshassi presented a detailed explanation  about the project, which targets 30 men and women media graduates.

She also said that the project will contribute to building the capacities of the target group on the objectivity of media techniques, and to developing their skills and expertise to utilize them in advocacy and lobby.

He explained that the project includes trainings, awareness sessions, and educational meetings at universities.

Inshassy noted that 10 participants will be selected upon specific criteria by a committee to receive practical training in SAWa Agency. A media conference will be held in the presence of a number of young journalists to discuss the challenges the objective media faces. According to Sameera

She clarified that a closing ceremony will be held at the end of the project, where the outputs of the project will be presented in the presence of the participants, legal and media personalities.  Furthermore, such recommendations will be published during the ceremony to be taken in the future plan.

In his turn, Mohammad Dawoud, a former participant of the project, presented some important aspects of the project, which went on for 9 months.

Dawoud confirmed that he benefited much from the project’s activities especially from journalistic editing, preparing reports and writing news objectively and professionally.

Dawoud advised the participants to necessarily show commitment to the activities, as this project is a big opportunity that they all must make use of it to further develop their practical and professional lives.
