Gaza, 09/08/2016--- Seeking to enhance freedom of expression and the right to access the information from an independent source, Press House organized face the Press program on Hebron Radio about " the reality of Media freedoms in Palestine" .
The meeting was attended by Ismael Jahshen, representative of ministry of information- the journalists Amjad Shawer , Yehya Al-Atrash, Adel Al-Ghareeb, Ikram Al-Tamimy- Mohammad Al-Laham, member of journalists syndicate participating over phone.
Al-Laham said that media freedoms topic is so big in Palestine, where there are so many limits and parameters. He also said that there are many external violations have been documented, where there are 80 in the Gaza Strip and 70 in West bank.
Through a phone participation, he added: " We hope there are no internal violations, since what the journalists subject to is enough. It's Israel occupying us, nothing weird in causing us these violations."
Al-Laham noted that setting new media legislations, that protect journalists from internal violations is a necessity. Otherwise, the political division has contributed to lacking legislations that organize media work within its expansion throughout the last 10 years.
He continued," Social media means have become more developed, which contributed to developing media too. Therefore, we have to raise the awareness of people in the importance of media to journalists and nation.
He stressed on the importance of respecting media ethics and getting away from Sectarianism and partisanship.
In his turn, Ismael Jahashan, representative of ministry of information, explained that the political division has contributed to increasing the internal violations in Palestine, where journalists have become vulnerable to wrongly using some media terminologies.
Jehshen said that falling in the division trap has caused many problems to the journalists, where there are many who successfully dealt with these problems and took causations.
He also confirmed that there must be a free media, which selects qualified staff, noting that there's a problem in selecting the media staff and in rehabilitating them well to work in media.
Jahshen noted that everyone must work on creating a national media first before working on international media, where developing media rules and paraphrase them are necessity that today's media has to come up with.
In another context, he assured that there must be partnerships to organize media work between the ministry of information and the local media outlets- Which means to make progress in the Palestinian media, more than one entity should cooperate.
In conclusion, Jahshen said that the Palestinian judiciary development is on the increase, where some gaps are between due to lack of potentials, Israeli occupation and its effects on the Palestinian cause.
The series included participation by the attendee of journalists, who stressed on the importance of media freedoms existence along with new media legislations.
