Gaza, 8-10-2015--- Seeking to boost freedom of expression and the right to access the information from a dependent source, Press House- Palestine organized "Face the Press" meeting on Thursday on Al-Quds broadcast about traveling abroad for treatment.
The meeting , organized in Al-Quds studios, was attended by Dr. Bassem Al-badry - the manager of abroad treatment department, Abd Al-nasser Abu Aloon- the manager of Al-Quds correspondents, Essa Saad-Allah- a reporter in Al-ayyam newspaper, and the journalists; Shereen Khaleefa, samy Al-zobeedy- Fedaa Aljaru.
Bassam Al-badry asserted that he has followed "the open door" strategy since the first day of his work, and he never said "No" to any patient who needed to travel abroad, revealing that there are special buddies seeking to bring radiological device for chemotherapy cure and two coming centers are going to be open soon. Al-Badry said, " we have been doing so many things, including dealing with the patient directly, and reorganizing the work.
Though the trials caused by "the open door" strategy, we can obviously notice that the public are satisfied on the quality of the department work.
The fellow Essa, a writer in Al-ayyam newspaper, asked about how the department deals with " medical transfers brokers "who use the patients for personal advantages m and if the there is any trial to stop them ? He added," there is a number of complaints, highly delivered recently, which burdens the patients more and more.
Al-badry replied to Sad Allah , "we dont deny that there are brokers, using the patients but here we are announcing that we are about to get rid of this phenomena . He pointed out that the department staff are working seriously hard , saying " due to the powerful strategy, we could get rid of 90 percent of it" .
He revealed that a change has been made on the staff of the department, since they were helping the brokers in such things. He added," we stopped any bias attempt, anyone asks for medical transfer, we negotiate very accurately", stressing that there are instructions about the good dealing with the patients. Replying to Saad when asking about the number of transfers, issued monthly, he said" 1500 case can reached all of the hospitals, inside and outside Gaza, 1200 of them were done the time he got the position. Ahmed Abu-Daqa commenting , " The mortality of cancer victims has recently increased", wondering about the inefficiency in transferring the patients applications. Al-Badry replied," there is an obvious increase in the number of cancer victims, which burdens us and makes Al-Najah center in Nablus and Almotallaa in Jerusalem crammed.
Al-badry asserted that the closure of Rafah crossing burdened the department, saying "If the crossing is opened, the process of transferring the patients applications would be easier.
Samia Alzubeedy said that anti-corruption department has hardly accounted the corrupts, since they themselves help them in that. Al-badrasawy replied ," if anyone has any data about the corruption or an evidence against any employee in the department, I would be ready to punish him no matter what for breaking the rules. When Fedaa questioned Al-badrasawy about the impairments the department faces, he said that the biggest impairment is the Israeli siege especially after ongoing closing for Beit-Hanoun crossing.
Shereen wondered if there any emergency cases , then to be replied by Albadrasawy who said that all emergency cases are automatically handled. At the end of the meeting, Al-badry asked the journalists to clarify the issue for the public and spreading the reality of the department work, which always seeks to help Gaza patients.
