Gaza, 5/3/2015 --- Press House – Palestine received today Thursday the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Norway Mr. Bård Glad Pedersen, in presence of tens of journalists at the organization’s office in Gaza.
Belal Jadallah, the head of Press House, welcomed the deputy minister and the delegation at the beginning of the press conference, and ensured that Press House seeks to enhance freedom of expression and independent media in Palestine.
For his turn, the deputy minister “Mr. Bård Pedersen” expressed his shock from the size of destruction he witnessed during his visit to Gaza as a result of the last Israeli war.
Pedersen said: “The size of destruction is very scary, the rebuilding process must be faster, and construction materials must enter the strip.”
He also clarified that the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs made contacts with donor countries to speed up the arrival of the amount of money required.
The deputy minister called the donor countries to meet the pledges they promised with during the Cairo Conference for Rebuilding Gaza, which amounted $ 5.4 billion.
He also stressed the necessity of activating the role of consensus government in Gaza, calling the national community to meet their obligations towards Gaza. Worth mentioning, this meeting came as a part of “Enhancing Freedom of Expression, Democracy, and Independency of Palestinian Media” project activities, under “Face the Press” program, funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments.
