Gaza, 17/02/2015 --- Press House – Palestine concluded a training course in “Media Terminologies in English” that targeted 25 journalists. The three-day training started last Sunday 15/02 and continued till Tuesday 17/02.
The course was delivered by Dr. Bahjat Abu Zaanona, the lecturer at Al-Aqsa University.
The course discussed the main terminologies used by news agencies and political terminologies.
While the second day covered the terminologies of international, local, and governmental institutions and their abbreviations, in addition to analyzing local news websites that works in English.
The last day covered the subject of the role of Palestinian media in conveying Palestinian cause to the west and the right terminologies to be used. It also included the presentation of a video for a corresponded at Al Jazeera English to analyze the main used terminologies.
A competition between trainees was also organized to revise the main subjects covered by training.
For his turn, the journalist Mesbah Baalosh, one of the participants, ensured the subject of training importance for journalists’ work to guarantee conveying the right message for our cause; calling the Press House to organize further trainings.
At the end of the training, certificates were distributed among participants.
Worth mentioning that the course came as a part of “Empowering Freedom of Expression, Democracy, & Independent Media” project, funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments, and is one the “Capacity Building of Journalists” program’ activities.
