On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, Press House – Palestine held a legal awareness workshop on the topic of "Legal Guarantees for journalists facing the judiciary", as part of the Legal Protection Project for Palestinian Journalists activities in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy.

The session was held in Gaza City, with participation of Mr. Mohammed Al Jaish, Legal Consultant at the Legal Protection Project for Palestinian Journalists , in presence of a number of lawyers, journalists, students and graduates of media colleges.

The workshop was opened by lawyer Abdullah Sharshara, who welcomed the attendees, stressing that this workshop comes within the efforts of Press House to strengthen the legal protection of journalists by building their legal capabilities and raising their awareness about media issues related to the practices of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.

The workshop covered the concept of the judiciary, and the importance of protecting freedom of expression, its relationship to media, press, and publishing issues. It also covered the guarantees that journalists should have if they are held legally accountable to the judiciary, emphasizing that the existence of an independent, impartial, and fair judiciary, in addition to effective control tools that refer to the law on the basis of equality .

The awareness session included a number of participations from journalists (women and men), which focused on the relationship of the judiciary with the media and the mechanism of judicial protection of freedom of opinion and expression.
