Press house Holds Legal Awareness Session on Investigative Journalism in Palestinian Law

Press house - Palestine held, on Monday 14 March 2022, a legal awareness session entitled "Investigative Journalism in Palestinian Law", one of the legal awareness sessions implemented as a part of "Legal Protection for Palestinian Journalists" project activities, in partnership with European Endowment for Democracy.

The session was held in Gaza City, with the participation of the Coordinator of the Legal Protection Unit for journalists, lawyer Abdullah Sharshara, and Legal Consultant Mohammed Al-Jaish, in presence of a number of lawyers, journalists, women journalists, students and graduates of media colleges in the Gaza Strip.

The session was opened by Lawyer Abdullah Sharshara, Coordinator of the Legal Protection of Journalists Unit of Press House, stressing that Press House aims by holding the awareness session to raise the awareness of journalists and students of media colleges about best legal standards for Investigative Journalism.

From his part, lawyer Mohammed Al-Jaish pointed to the importance of Investigative Journalism; the legal standards that prevent the journalist from being accused of defamation and slander, and the legality of both impersonation and recording telephone conversations.

The meeting included a number of interventions by journalists, students and graduates of media colleges, which focused on the legality of investigative tools and the need to develop media laws in Palestine.
