Press House Holds a Legal Awareness Session on "Journalists and the Cybercrimes Law"

On Sunday, December 12, 2021, Press House – Palestine(BAS) held a legal awareness session on the topic of "Journalists and the Cybercrimes Law", as part of "Legal Protection for Palestinian Journalists" project activities, in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy.

The awareness session was held in Gaza City, with consideration of high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, with participation of a number of journalists (women and men), students and graduates of media colleges.

The session was opened by Mr. Mohammed Al Jaesh "Lawyer at the Legal Protection Unit for Journalists", as he welcomed the attendance, stressing that Press House strengthening and building journalists’ capacity in many legal fields related to their profession.

Mr. Mahmoud Al Talouli "Facilitator of the Session", talked about the importance of cybercrimes law that exist to protect journalists (women and men) from cybercrimes, in addition to protecting citizens and guarantee their privacy and digital security on social media platforms.

Also, Mr. Al Talouli mentioned the cybercrimes law and its amendments in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip and Law problems which related to press freedom.

The awareness session included a number of participations from journalists (women and men), which focused on problems they face during their media work and on social media platforms.
