Gaza - Press House
On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, Samih Al Qasim Forum for Culture and Arts in the Gaza Strip commemorated the 7th anniversary death of the Palestinian poet Samih Al Qasim.
The session was held at Press House - Palestine (BAS), with consideration of high prevention measures to prevent the outbreak of COVID 19, with participation of Mr. Ibrahim Abu Al Naga, Mayor of Gaza Governorate and in presence of a number of poets, writers, intellectuals and interested people
Mr. Ahmed Al Kahlout, Writer and Director of Samih Al Qasim Forum for Culture and Arts, opened the session: “Samih Al Qasim is considered the most important and famous Arab and Palestinian poet who's their names were connected with poetry of revolution and resistance, as his poems explains struggle and suffering of Palestinian people”.
Mr. Ibrahim Abu Al Naga, said that Samih Al Qasim was imprisoned more than one time and put under house arrest and fired from his work because of his political and literary activities and his revolutionary poetry, which reached to threat by kill.
Also, Mr. Abu Al Naga pointed out that Al Qasim published many books, which reached to nearly 70 books in poetry, theater and story, his poems were translated to many languages to roam the world.
The North Art Band presented a group of songs from poems of Samih Al Qasim.
