In presence of Minister of Culture, Dr. Atef Abu Saif, the forum of Sameeh Al Qasim and Press House in Gaza City held a ceremony to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.
The Minister of Culture, Dr. Atef Abu Saif, said that today we commemorate the 13th anniversary of the great poet Mahmoud Darwish, one of the great names who established for national cultural action and contributed in enriching national awareness on Palestinian cause through his poetic works.
Mr. Abu Saif, talked that Darwish's poem is an inclusive message and content with revolutionary, militant and humanitarian through which rooted national thinking toward our people case who seek for salvation, freedom and independence
In addition, Mr. Abu Saif mentioned that the importance of cultural act which produced by Darwish through the cosmic message that emphasizing the importance of Palestinian cause at global level through the translations for his works to the most foreign languages and this is the role of the national intellectual for the cause of his nation and freedom of his people.
Also, the Minister of Culture stressed the great role that Palestinian government focus on cultural issue, considering culture a major and important station in order to achieve the awareness basics, establish the national and educational and principles values. This is what the government stressed during this year by considering it as a basic issue to save the Palestinian national narration.
Abu Seif concluded his words and stressed the important role for the younger generations in saving our history and our narration through his known about the importance of reading and increasing the knowledge that produces distinguished cultural speech.
From his part, writer Mr. Ahmed Al Kahlout, Director of Sameeh Al Qasim Forum for Culture and Arts in Gaza, said that Mahmoud Darwish is Palestinian icon and Arab poetry and we commemorate his 13th anniversary today to stress the importance of protecting Darwish's literary and poetic legacy, publishing it and take care of him. On this day, we do not forget one of the most important Symbols of Palestinian culture, who played an important role in the struggle against Israeli Occupation.
The North Art presented a group of songs from the poems of great poet Mahmoud Darwish.
