Press House – Palestine (BAS) Starts the Implementation of The On-Job-Training Program

Press House - Palestine launched the on-job-training program in the field of editorial of Sawa news agency on February 1, 2020, after completing all stages of attracting qualified people to this program.

The procedures for implementing the on-job-training program have went through several stages, including announcement by Press House of a paid on-job-training opportunity through different platforms, which lasted from December 16 to December 21, 2019, where Press House received 401 applications seeking to join the program. A specialized committee was formed to select trainees participating in the practical training program according to certain professional criteria, thus excluding 133 applicants who did not meet the screening criteria.

Subsequently, a written test was conducted on 30 and 31 December 2019, The committee finished on January 2, 2020, correcting the papers of the editorial examination, where it passed the test 106 progressed.

Due to limited resources in the on-job-training program, a number of 57 applicants with high scores of editorial testing were selected for personal interviews at Press House on 13 and 14 January 2020, with 10 applicants eligible for the practical training program.

Press House is implementing the new journalists' on-job-training program at Sawa News Agency with the aim of enhancing their capacities to write news, reports, stories and conduct interviews in a professional and independent manner, within the activities of the project "Strengthening Free and Independent Media in Palestine", funded by the Swiss and Norwegian governments.
