On Thursday, 17th Oct. 2019, the Press House - Palestine, held a dialogue meeting, entitled `` Youth and Elections '', with the participation of dozens of students, graduates of media colleges in the Palestinian universities, and members of media groups affiliated to the Press House
During the meeting, the Human Rights Activist Salah Abdel-Atti, talked about the methods to hold Palestinian legislative and presidential elections, and the role of youth in lobbying and participating in making a united national decision.
Abdel-Atti pointed to the exclusion of youth from the political process, and their lack of meaningful involvement in the Palestinian political work, stressing that young people are required to become a model to follow to work arduously, to extract their rights through democratic means.
He said: "It is time to open up the way for all youth to corporate, integrate and revitalize the institutions that focus on youth."
Abdel-Atti mentioned that the Palestinian youth have many tools through which they can participate in the political work that serves the Palestinian cause through social media sites, which have become a very important tool that can change the reality if used correctly.
Abdel-Atti also stressed that the Palestinian youth have a role to defend their national rights and their future even if the historic solution is distant.
The Human Rights Activist thanked the Press House Foundation for supporting youth and giving them a chance to develop, raise awareness, and improve the national movement, where youth are the key of it development, calling on civil society institutions to do the same in supporting young people and adopting them.
During the meeting, the youth participants posed several questions about the participation means and how to run the elections for the first time, especially since they did not engage in any activity in the political work of the election and about knowing the correct mechanism to choose the leaders that can achieve a real change of the Palestinian reality. .
