The Press House hosted a delegation from The Ship of Youth initiative under the auspices of the Development Center (MAAN) and the implementation of the Creativity center for Research, Studies and training, to deliver the message of youth and to seek out the mechanism to educate media institution of youth requirements.
At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of the board of Directors of the Press House, Bilal Jadallah, greeted the attendance, stressing the importance of working on highlighting the role of youth and developing their potential.
Jadallah spoke, During the meeting, about the role of the Press House in Enhancing the independent Palestinian Media amid the growing of partial media discourse and the role of the Palestinian media though a renewed strategic plan.
Jadallah pointed out that the last survey which was overseen by the Press House over the media sections at all universities, showed a remarkable increase in the number of graduates of Press and Information faculty, indicates youth encouragement to work at the press field, whom at the same time cause a burden at the labor market.
He also explained that the role of the Press House towards graduates is to provide an environment of guidance and training to enable them to develop their capabilities in the field of journalism. The institution also makes sure to hold regular dialogue discussions to fill the gaps among the former students of Press and Information faculty.
According to Jadallah, the Press House implements discussion meetings with the most prominent political and media figures to enhance the language of dialogue and the freedom of access to information, in addition to educational meetings for media students, practical training programs and the coordination of youth media groups and embracing and directing youth initiatives.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors received the message of the “Ship of youth” initiative in which the decision-makers demanded from governments, institutions, United Nations bodies, human rights bodies and individuals to support the freedom of Palestinian youth to practice their right, which has been recognized by international conventions and norms to achieve achievements and contribute to change the reality and to consider violations committed by the Israeli occupation which is criminalized by the International law.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed the criteria for admission to the trainings of the Press House and the reality of the media in light of the division and siege and the role of media institutions in cooperation with various youth initiatives.
