On Thursday, 25 of June 2019, The Press House – Palestine House concludes the first training sessions of the project of “Fostering Social Inclusion and Gender Equality within Palestinian Society tackling gender stereotypes”, under the title of " Community Transformation "in the presence of Mrs. Samar Al-Malfouh, the Program Manager and Rana Abu Kmail, the Coordinator of this Project in the Gaza Strip.
The course, which was attended by Mr. Mohamed Al-Natour and his assistant, Mr. Mahmoud Gouda, had targeted 30 of male and female participants aged between 19 and 29 years.
On the first day of the training, Al Natour highlighted the concept of the Community Transformation and what is for, as well as the structure of society and its components, and the changes we aspire to see in our communities.
On the second day, Al-Natour talked about the impact of the behavior of individuals and communities in societies, mechanisms of the impact and strategies of work within the components of society according to its needs and the characteristics prevailing in it, in addition to the concentration on the most important stereotypes, tools and platforms used in the process of community transformation.
On the final day of the training course, Al-Natour focused on the safe spaces of the social transformation process, highlighting the reality, conflicts and contradictions based on the identity. Mentioning a number of local and international experiences of some individuals and institutions in combating polarization on the basis of the political and geographical affiliation and gender.
It’s worth noting that this course aims to empower the participants to adopt more active roles in public life in order to fill the gap between them, thus creating a kind of social change and overcoming the hindering forces through peaceful means, in order to support the participants in understanding the power relations and assessing the level of gender representation.
