Press House - Palestine in partnership with the Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (Musawa) held a workshop on "The Right to Access Information and Legal Protection Mechanisms" on Wednesday, 25 July 2018, targeting a group of journalists.
Lawyer Rola Mousa, Legal Supervision Officer at the Musawa Center, opened the workshop. While, Dr. Ahmed Hasaniya, Dean of the Faculty of Law in Gaza University, lawyer and journalist Kamal Hijazi, and journalist Ansam Al-Qatta' a member of the network of human rights defenders have lectured in the workshop.
The workshop dealt with three main parts. In the first part, Dr. Ahmed Hasaniya talked about "the crime of technology misuse in the Palestinian Penal Code and its convenience with the agreements and international criminal law."
Kamal Hijazi discussed in the second part "the legal protection of freedom of opinion and expression and access to information clarifying its obstacles and challenges."
On her part, Ansam Al-Qatta' reviewed the main system of human rights defenders' network and its compatibility with the international agreements recently signed by the state of Palestine and its mechanisms in the national legislation.
This workshop is part of "enhancing freedom of expression, quality and independence of the Palestinian media "project, which is carried out by the Press House and funded by the Norwegian and Swiss governments.
