On July 15, 2018, Press House- Palestine held a training course about "Short Film directing", which targeted 17 journalists' trainees and people interested in short film directing.
The six-day training course was given by Palestinian director Alaa Al-Aloul. On the first day, he explained the objectives of the course in general, clarified the strategy of developing the idea and discussed how to write the script. The trainees were divided into three working groups in order to let each group make a short film.
The second day was about the art of writing dialogue. The director screened some of his films that were discussed by trainees such as "Alternative Plan".
On the third day, he explained how to write the scene, and there was a discussion on photography department as well.
On the fourth day, Alaa Al-Aloul performed a simulation of the scenes by filming a scene in the hall. He also screened "Ten Years" film and discussed it with the trainees.
On the fifth day, the trainer discussed the scenarios that belong to the trainees' films and reviewed their ideas in order to edit the scenarios and explain the tools used to produce these films.
On the last day, he discussed the "Montage" with the trainees and then he screened the films produced by them.
It is worth mentioning that the trainees have produced three short films carrying the names of (Tawjihi, charity, reality - reality) as the output of this training course.
This course is part of the Capacity Building Program, which aims at building the capacity of journalists. This comes as part of the project's activities to enhance freedom of expression, quality and independence of Palestinian media, which is funded by the Norwegian and Swiss governments.
