Gaza 19/11/2017, Press House- Palestine concluded "Promoting Objective Media 2" project, funded by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, with the participation of the honor guest Mr. Gernot Sauro, Head of UNESCO office in Gaza and a number of journalistic figures, journalists, academics and Palestinian universities' representatives in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Belal Jadallah, Head of Board said that "Promoting Objective Media 2" project, which continued for 12 months, targeted 32 young men and women media graduates from all media departments. In addition, all the project's activities were applied on the same group which is very great to focus on the same group intensively.
Mrs. Jadallah added, "Based on the principles and philosophy of the Press House to promote freedom of opinion and expression, support independent media and professionally qualify media cadres in accordance with the global renaissance; the overall objective of this project is to contribute to enhancing the objectivity of media in Palestine by building the capacities of young men and women media graduates in order to defend the Palestinian cause in a professional media language".
Mr. Jadallah clarified that the specific goals of this project are contributing to develop the capacity of 32 young women and men media graduates on media objectivity techniques in the Gaza Strip and contributing to develop their skills and knowledge on employing media objectivity in advocacy and lobbying.
He continued, "During the project, a total of 140 hours of training courses were held, 8-hour political educational sessions were conducted, as well as, a series of meetings in the various Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip. Moreover, 48 hours of practical training were conducted, in which the best 10 participants were selected by a specialized committee to receive a practical training in the journalistic editing arts in Sawa News agency for two months. During this period of time, each trainee produced 4 reports which were published on the agency's electronic website".
Furthermore, a media conference was held in the presence of dozens of young media journalists to discuss the most important challenges facing the objective media. The conference included 4 worksheets discussing the following topics: Journalism Ethics and Standards, Media Departments and Promoting the Applied Sides Mechanisms, The Reality of Voluntary Work in Media Organizations and Social Media and Promoting Objective Media for Youth.
Mr. Jadallah asserted that the message is clear which is creating objective media based on professionalism to promote freedom of expression and defend the Palestinian cause locally and internationally.
Finally, Mr. Jadallah thanked the project's organizers and all those who contributed to its success. He also extended special thanks to the trainees, wishing them more success in their career away from dispersion and disagreement and by national language for Palestine.
During the ceremony, a video for the project's accomplishments was presented followed by an art show for the trainees in which they talked about their accomplishments during the project.
Moreover, the ceremony included a popular Dabkeh performance by the Al Anqaa band.
Furthermore, Mr. Jadallah and a number of media figures honored the representatives of the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed to the project's trainees.
