Gaza, Wed, May 14 --- The representative for the Norwegian government to the Palestinian territories "Mr. Hans Jacob Frydenlund" signed an agreement with the head of Press House – Palestine "Mr. Belal Jadallah" for the project of 2014 "Empowering the Press House: a Platform for Freedom of speech, Independent Media, & Democracy".
The Norwegian program advisor "Marte Hellum", along with the consultant for the NRO, and a number of English speaking journalists and staff of Press House attended the meeting.
Mr. Jadallah, on behalf of Press House' board of directors thanked Mr. Hans and the accompanying delegation and appreciated the generous support provided by the Norwegian government; for enhancing the principles of freedom of speech, and empowering independent media in the Palestinian territories.
The representative of Norway had an extensive discussion with a group of English speaking journalists about the reality of the Palestinian journalism.
The meeting focused on the major difficulties Palestinian journalism suffer from, and how to convey the Palestinian concerns and opinions to the international community.
They also discussed the status of freedoms in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, expressing their optimism with the reconciliation success and its impact on the freedom of speech in Palestine.
